Dogs Without Pedigree Contest

In Madrid, the National Association of Friends of the Animals (ANAA) invites you every year to participate in the Dogs Without Pedigree Contest. Its raised funds are destined to improve the conditions of the animals that live in this association (sterilization, vaccination, and home researching).  

This year, in June, the twelfth edition of the Contest was celebrated in the Equestrian Club New Cartuja, located in the North of Madrid, 30 kilometers far from the Castile Square, in which more than 600 dogs participated.  

A jury, integrated by famous and professional people, selects the most outstanding dogs for the following categories: the most handsome male and female, the one with biggest ears, the biggest, the smallest, the oldest, the most obedient and the most original ones.  

The day of the contest begins with a breakfast in the bar and with the inscriptions. Next, the inauguration takes place followed by different modalities and intervals for canine exhibitions and finally a raffle is made. The closing takes place in the afternoon.  

During the celebration, the participants can enjoy a bar service, a store, and a kids zone. In addition, there are informative stands about animal adoption, cat colonies, abandonment, animal sterilization, sponsorships, partners, and the rest of activities that ANAA develops inside and outside their Adoption Center.  

The Contest also features a veterinarian's team to attend any urgency. Other things that they facilitate are water for the animals and bags to pick up the depositions so as to maintain the facilities cleaned.  

The unique important requirement is that dogs must be vaccinated and identified, reason why the presentation of the official vaccination card is mandatory. Also for security reasons, the dogs must remain tied and wear a muzzle just to avoid possible fights.  

This event has the purpose of encourage the adoption of dogs in adoption centers, and it is against the pet sales. In the contest all kind of dogs can participate: both half-blooded and race ones.  

At the same time, the Cats Photo Contest is also celebrated, in which the most original photo wins. All the collected money (in both activities) is destined to take care of abandoned animals.  

Anyone interested in participating in the event must pay 5 EUR as an inscription fee for each modality, and there are gifts for all the participants.
